Interesting question.
If I were to be jealous of Alex Rodriguez, I’d be jealous of *every* major league player, because all of them make more money than I do. They’re also more talented at the game than I am.
There’s no doubt he’s the most talented player in the game right now. He also has a huge ego, and works with an agent who wants to wring every dollar out of his team — which are the reasons why he’s so disliked right now.
The Yankees have made their decision not to deal with him, as have the Mariners and Rangers, which speaks a great deal about what they think of him. If my team had a gaping hole at shortstop or first base (he’s not a particularly good fielder at third) and his salary demands could be fit in my budget, I’d certainly look at him. Otherwise, the financial issues speak louder.
