Lexy is a cute name for the dog and bless you for giving her a chance!
I think an immediate trip to the Vet is an excellent idea. For one thing, they should be able to tell you if she is pregnant with a simple blood test called Relaxin. If you prefer, they can also do a routine abortion so you don’t have to deal with a litter, but that is a choice you need to be aware of.
If she is pregnant and you decide to go through with the litter, your Vet should be able to give you advice on what to expect. You should also do some research on whelping/rearing a litter and the Monks book mentioned below can help you with that. Getting all her shots and having her spayed should be a top priority.
A dog that has never been a member of the family and a house dog is going to present you with a few challenges but if you are dedicated to making it work you will do just fine.
I am going to recommend two books you can find at your library, www.amazon.com or even Ebay. They will help you make all the necessary adjustments. One is The Art of Raising A Puppy by the Monks of New Skete and the other is The Koehler Method of Dog Training by William R. Koehler.
Most people would walk away when it appears they may have to do some work. Lexy is one lucky girl! I’m sure you are going to do a great job with her. If you have other questions feel free to contact me. Good luck.
